As I’ve mentioned a few times on the blog, as well as running a photography business, Chris and I own a production company, Dark Ink Pictures, where we make indie comic books. Over the weekend, we got to bring characters from one of our comics to life, and it was a surreal experience.
In our book Cursed Mountain, a town holds a yearly lottery to decide which citizen will be sacrificed to the horde of hungry zombies lurking outside the city’s walls. It’s a three-part graphic novel, and the first issue is out now. I won’t spoil the ending, but it gets pretty intense. In the book’s sequel, we introduce “Debbie Does Deathmetal,” a punk/thrash metal zombie girl band. Brett Strong, the illustrator behind Cursed Mountain, drew a Debbie Does Deathmetal promo poster, and Chris and I cast the band members, styled their wardrobe, produced the shoot, and the two of us photographed the “band” together. Our three models were amazing, and everyone on set had so much fun!
More images are coming soon, but here’s a sneak peek!
